Parsley Family
Names Dementia
Day Center
as the Recipient for their 10th Anniversary Charity Golf Classic
Houston, TX
— The Parsley Charity Golf Classic will
be held on Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012, at Redstone Golf Club in Houston, Texas.
All proceeds from the four-person golf scramble will create long-term benefit
for the Day
Center
at Sheltering Arms Senior Services, a 120-year old organization serving Seniors
including those with Dementia, the disease that took the life of the family’s
patriarch, Robert Parsley.
Check-in,
open driving range and putting green, a lunch buffet, and putting contest will
all be available between 10:30 a.m. and 12:45 p.m., with a shotgun start at 1
p.m. Due to an overwhelming response,
all individual player spots have been filled for the tournament. However,
sponsorship opportunities, which also include access to exclusive tournament
events, are still available. All donations are tax deductible. Details and registration forms are available
at www.ShelteringArms.org or by
emailing Cabell Walker at
cabellw@shelteringarms.org.
The Parsley
Charity Golf Classic continues a legacy of giving in the Parsley family that
began with Georganna and Robert Parsley.
Supporters of countless causes throughout their 48-year marriage, they
contributed financial gifts, moral support, and most importantly, their time
and effort to local area organizations.
Today, their ten children and 32 grandchildren recognize their
achievements and honor their memory through this annual Houston
event. The family has focused on
Catholic high schools, and medical and community social services
organizations. Past event beneficiaries
include the St. Vincent de Paul Society, San Jose Clinic, and Cristo Rey
Jesuit.
This year’s
benefiting organization is Sheltering Arms Senior Services, a division of
Neighborhood Centers Inc. Sheltering
Arms has been dedicated to improving the independence and quality of life for Houston’s
older adults since 1893. Services
offered along the agency’s continuum of care address basic needs, promote good
health, ensure safety and expert care for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease,
and provide support for family caregivers.
