22,000 and Counting!
Health Came First this Summer During Back-to-School Health Fairs

This year our summer health fair series put more than 22,500 men, women, and children on the path to health and wellness, and prepped them for the start of the new school year, surpassing last year’s attendance by 6,100.

For the third year in a row Neighborhood Centers connected families with free health screenings, immunizations, nutrition tips, fun fitness demos, and resources to adopt "green" habits and earth-friendly lifestyles. Kids took home backpacks filled with school supplies and walked away ready and eager for the start of school.

"Since 2009, attendance at our health fairs has tripled," said Claudia Vasquez, Neighborhood Centers Inc. Vice President of Community-Based Initiatives. "We have put resources in the communities that need them."

Success is due in part to the generosity of program partners, including our newest supporter and this year’s presenting sponsor for all five of our Back-to-School Health Fairs, Wal-Mart Stores Inc.

For the fifth year in a row, ARAMARK presented our HIP (Health Information Program) Health Fair at Harbach-Ripley Neighborhood Center, through its ARAMARK Building Community initiative.

ABC Dental
donated school supplies for all six health fairs while numerous other health organizations and community partners contributed time and expertise.
