A variety of activities are offered daily for seniors in 20 locations throughout Harris County.
Because seniors often find it difficult to buy and prepare healthy food, maintaining positive nutritional habits can be a difficult chore.
Neighborhood Center Inc.’s meal program provides adults aged 60 and over with a hot, nutritious noon meal in a safe and nurturing environment – reducing out-of-pocket expenses for seniors and providing companionship and a social environment.
Opportunities include the following:
- Each center offers a variety of recreation activities, such as arts and crafts, dance, games, physical fitness activities and more.
- We provide education on health and nutrition, the latest legislative issues related to seniors and other topics of interest.
- We host seasonal and cultural celebrations that provide a sense of belonging and camaraderie. Our seniors often take day and weekend field trips.
- Through a partnership with the Houston Young Lawyer’s Association, we help seniors get help with minor legal issues.
-
We provide information and referrals to seniors who have needs that are not addressed by services provided directly at the centers.
Senior centers operate Monday through Friday. Call the center nearest you for enrollment information.
We also offer a home-delivered meals program through the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services, serving more than 300 homebound and disabled persons. Information regarding enrollment is available by calling 713-692-1635.
