Changing lives – and a city – for the better

Since its inception, Neighborhood Centers Inc. has worked to improve the lives of Houston residents by bringing resources, education and connection to underserved areas of our city.

As we prepared for our 100th anniversary, we embarked on a New Century Campaign designed to dramatically retool the way we deliver services.

The New Century Campaign will enable us to make dramatic – and permanent – improvements in people’s lives across Houston. By focusing on asset building, we can harness the power and energy of the human spirit and create empowered communities that have the skills, capabilities and resources to help themselves.

The long-term impact of the New Century Campaign is a city with broader economic strength, entrepreneurial growth, lower unemployment and a reduced need for social services – especially those related to health and education.

We invite you to join with us in supporting this bold new initiative – one that will make realization of the American Dream possible for all Houstonians.

Campaign Objectives

The New Century Campaign consists of three major initiatives designed to meet the changing needs of the Houston community:
  • Creation of the Baker-Ripley Neighborhood Campus, in collaboration with the City of Houston, to help focus resources in an area that will play an increasingly important role in the region’s future.
  • Rollout of a new and improved model for providing services at five existing community centers – Ripley House, Harbach-Ripley, Cleveland-Ripley, LaPorte  and Independence Heights. Our goal is to support neighborhood asset building, enabling residents to become self-sufficient through economic development, leadership training and community networks.
  • Increasing endowment funds to provide immediate and unrestricted dollars necessary to create community collaborations.

New Century Campaign

Neighborhood Centers Inc. is proud to announce we have reached the halfway mark of our $20 million New Century Campaign. This initiative — part of our 100th anniversary — is designed to enhance the way we deliver education, resources and connections to underserved areas of Houston. By harnessing the energy of our communities, it will make the Human Dream a reality for anyone willing to work for it. We hope you will join Phase II of the campaign, chaired by Susan G. Baker, and help to fulfill the promise of these neighborhoods and transform the lives of those who live there.
