2009 Heart of Gold Celebration
We held our 2009 Heart of Gold Celebration on February 18 at the Hilton Americas Hotel downtown. Rice University Board of Trustees Chair Jim Crownover and U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison presented Stanford Alexander with the 2009 Alice Graham Baker Crusader Award for his exemplary leadership and passionate commitment to improving the quality of life for all neighbors in the greater Houston region.
Mrs. James A. Baker III received special recognition for her leadership of Phase II of the New Century Campaign and her lifetime of volunteer service.
The 2009 Heart of Gold Celebration was chaired by Heather Simpson. Andrew Kerin, Executive Vice President of ARAMARK Corporation, was the event's Honorary Chair.
In all, 500 business and community leaders attended, raising more than $400,000 to support Neighborhood Centers programs. Thanks to all of you who made this the most successful luncheon ever!
