Share Your Skills Through Teaching!
Neighborhood Centers Inc. is looking for dedicated volunteers interested in sharing their expertise and skills to community residents.

Volunteers are being sought to teach a variety of classes such as ballet, sewing, welding, photography, art, aerobics, etc. Volunteers must be able to commit to teaching a 4- to 6-week session and have some experience in class instruction.

When We Need You:
Scheduling is based on class interest, instructors and room availability.

Office Support for Disaster Recovery Program
Stay Connected, a program of Neighborhood Centers Inc., provides a compassionate response in helping clients one-on-one to rebuild their lives following a disaster.

Volunteers are needed to assist and support case managers who are working with thousands of clients rebuilding from Hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Ike. Volunteers will call neighbors still needing assistance, scan documents, file and provide other administrative duties.

When We Need You:
Various shifts, Monday - Friday 9AM-9PM

Hospitality Support at Ripley House Neighborhood Center
Neighborhood Centers operates several community centers designed to meet the needs of the community and the residents who are actively involved in programs taking place at the centers.

Bilingual volunteers are needed to assist with welcoming visitors, provide visitors with information about the center, answer phones and assist with membership mailings.

When We Need You:
Various shifts, Monday - Friday 8AM-8PM

After-School Tutors
Neighborhood Centers Inc. needs volunteers to assist youth ages 12-17 with homework after school at the centers listed below. Volunteer placement is contingent upon a background check.

When We Need You:
Monday-Friday 3:30pm-5:30pm

Translators at Community Centers
Neighborhood Centers Inc. is in need of volunteers that can assist with translation during instructional classes held during the day and evening. Volunteers must be fluent in both English and Spanish.

E-Mentors
Volunteers are needed to assist students at The BRIDGE/El Puente center to enhance their computer and English skills. Students email their mentors once a week with questions initially provided by the instructors.
 
E-mentoring helps students develop their computer literacy skills, which in turn advances their ability to enter the workforce and navigate the information superhighway.
