Assistance at Immigration & Citizenship Forums
Neighborhood Centers Inc. in partnership with other local agencies, regularly holds free immigration & citizenship forums. Local attorneys and immigration specialists speak on the rights and responsibilities of citizens and participants receive free one-on-one legal assistance from immigration attorneys.

Volunteers are mainly needed to assist qualified Legal Permanent Residents in completing US Citizenship applications. Training is provided, usually on the same day. Other duties include set up, food assistance, registration table, and more.

Being bilingual is not required but helpful.


When We Need You:
Forums are typically scheduled throughout the year at various Greater Houston locations. They are often during lunchtime on Saturday, or in the evening on weekdays. See our calendar for the upcoming forums.

Hospitality Support at Ripley House Neighborhood Center
Neighborhood Centers operates several community centers designed to meet the needs of the community and the residents who are actively involved in programs taking place at the centers.

Bilingual volunteers are needed to assist with welcoming visitors, provide visitors with information about the center, answer phones and assist with membership mailings.

When We Need You:
Various shifts, Monday - Friday 8am-8pm

Comprehensive Energy Assistance Program (CEAP) Assistant
Independence Heights Neighborhood Center is in need of volunteers to assist with connecting eligible seniors, low income families and disabled individuals with assistance with electric and gas bills, as well as education on low-cost energy efficiency measures and household budgeting.
 
Volunteers will need a high school diploma or college degree. Duties include intake calls, collecting and entering application information into a database, and assisting staff with administrative duties to ensure participants receive necessary assistance and education.

When We Need You:
Volunteer hours are available Monday-Friday 8am-6:30pm and Saturdays 9am-1pm

After-School Youth Tutors
Neighborhood Centers is looking for volunteers to assist with youth ages 12-17 with homework after school at the locations below.
 
Volunteer placement is contingent upon a background check.

Volunteer hours are available Monday-Friday 4:30-6:00pm
