SUNNY FUTURES Healthy Start Prenatal Services

The health of a baby is determined long before a woman becomes pregnant.

To reduce infant mortality and low birth weight babies, SUNNY FUTURES Healthy Start is educating and training women, teens, fathers, parents and grandparents.

Pregnant and parenting women in the Sunnyside, Third and Fifth Ward communities receive free health education, home visits, medical application assistance and referrals to local resources.

In the United States, the infant mortality rate for African American women is approximately 2.4 times that of Caucasian women. Harris County also experiences a racial disparity in infant mortality rates.
